Widening Participation Project Officer
Who are you?
Hi, I am Leanne Allen one of the Widening Participation Project Officer.
What do you do at City?
I coordinate our English and Maths tutoring project at City of London Academy – Islington, which is our local secondary schools co-sponsored by City. Over the last two years I have set up a GCSE Maths revisions Days at the university.
I really enjoying working on both these projects because they give me the opportunity to engage with City students and secondary school pupils.
My job is very rewarding because through the tutoring project, I have worked with pupils that have come so far with their English and Maths and to be able to work with super passionate tutors is a joy.
How long have you been at City?
I have been at City for 3 years; I do not know where the time have gone.
Tell us a bit about yourself?
I work part time at City because I have a cake business. When I am not in the kitchen, the office or a classroom, you would find me getting on a plane, as I love to travel; last year alone I visited five different countries. Along with making cakes and traveling, I enjoy working with young people because I am making a positive impact in their lives.
