Creative Industries Federation
A new organisation – the Creative Industries Federation – was launched last night. The aim is to create a voice, lobbying and information, and strategy for the creative industries in the UK. Its Director John Kampfner wrote a piece in the Observer newspaper about the CIF. City University is one of the founder supporters of the initiative, and Andy Pratt was at the launch at Central St Martins school of art last night (24th Nov). It turned out to be a very high profile event. There was a panel of industry people (including internet entrepreneur Martha Lane Fox, and sculptor Anish Kapoor), then an panel of the senior politicians from each major party: Danny Alexander, Harriet Harman, and Ed Vaizey (see picture). But it was all kicked off by a speech from the chancellor of the exchequer George Osborne.
