Casey speaks at Manga at a Crossroads Symposium
Earlier this month Dr Casey Brienza participated in a symposium held at the Ohio State University Billy Ireland Cartoon Library & Museum. The afternoon event coincided with the opening of the traveling exhibit, World of Shojo Manga! Mirrors of Girls’ Desires.
Casey gave a talk on ‘Global Manga: “Japanese” Comics without Japan?,’ based upon an edited collection with the same title forthcoming from Ashgate in July.
Other speakers included Prof Masami Toku (California State University, Chico), Dr Jennifer Prough (Valparaiso University), and Dr Kerim Yasar (Ohio State University).
After the event, the symposium speakers were given a private guided tour of the museum’s archives.
