Radical Open Access Conference
Earlier this week Marisol Sandoval participated in the Radical Open Access Conference at Coventry University. The conference brought together scholars, open access publishers and activists to discuss an alternative vision for open access.
Marisol spoke about the Diamond model of Open Access as an alternative to increasingly popular green and gold OA models. In Diamond OA not-for-profit, non-commercial organizations, associations or networks publish material that is made available online in digital format, that is free of charge for both readers and authors and does not allow commercial and for-profit re-use.
The term Diamond Open Access was suggested in a paper co-authored by Christian Fuchs and Marisol Sandoval, which was published in 2013 in the open access journal tripleC as part of a special section on Debating Open Access.
