Cecilia discusses culture beyond tourism in Venice
Dr Cecilia Dinardi was invited to present on creative cities and alternative ways of capturing cultural value at an interdisciplinary workshop in Venice on 12th July 2016, organised by Theatrum Mundi, an LSE-based network of artists and urbanists from different cities. The workshop brought together local and international architects, art historians, activists and academics to present case studies on London, Barcelona, Venice and Cardiff, and develop a critical research agenda towards a new language of culture beyond tourism. The event continued the following day with a public panel with Prof Richard Sennett (NYU-LSE), Jane da Mosto (We are here Venice), Marta Ajmar (Deputy Director of the V&A Research Institute), Zaida Muxi (Barcelona-based city planner) and Liza Fior (Muf Architects). Over the next two days participants also attended the Urban Age Conference – Shaping Cities and the Architecture Biennale. A busy week in Venice!
