Jo at Barry Amiel and Normal Melburn Trust event

Jo Littler from CCI and Sociology was a speaker and participant at the Barry Amiel and Norman Melburn Summer School on ‘Culture and Politics’ in Eastborne this weekend. The participants were a mix of NGO workers, campaigners, media journalists, political activists, journalists and academics.  There was a wide range of topical discussion, including discussion of the election, and the many lively presentations included work on council estate femininity and the alt-right online. Jo spoke about her work on meritocracy in a session on the Saturday morning, with Michael Rustin responding. Given the weather everyone was happy to be allowed out to the beach at lunchtime..
