Coworking: Re-embedding Freelance Work

On Tuesday, February 6, Janet Merkel was invited to give a keynote lecture on the workshop “Work/Now: a workshop on labour and life (part 1)”. The workshop has been organised by Nina Willment and Katy Lawn, PhD students at the Department of Geography at Royal Holloway, University of London. Janet’s lecture focused on the relation of, the rise of freelance workers and how coworking spaces constitute a coping strategy with the disadvantages of a freelance work situation in the highly volatile and flexible labour markets of culture and creative industries.
