Andy in Porto Alegre, Brazil

On Friday 19th Nov. Andy Pratt gave a key note to an international conference in Port Alegre, Brazil on ‘Creative Territories’, this engaged over 20 speakers from 9 countries, and was conducted in English, Portuguese and Spanish. It was a collaboration between Research universities in Porto Alegre and Barcelona. Andy has visited Porto Alegre previously and linked up with Brazilian researchers on the Creative Economy, he also has string links with researchers in Barcelona.

Andy gave the closing keynote session on ’The global -local nexus’ in the creative economy. This contribution discussed the modes of ‘development’ and how culture was complemented, or challenged by, this. As per the title he also discussed the challenges of globalisation and monopolies to the sustainability of local cultures, and global cultural diversity.
