New Urban Multicultures, Superdiversity and Brexit Britain

This summer Diana gave two papers with Tamsin Barber, Oxford Brookes University on their joint work. The first was on hierarchies of belonging in nightlife in the neoliberal city at the ‘New Urban Multicultures: Conviviality and Racism’ conference at Goldsmiths and the second focused on translocal processes of racialization and racism in the context of youth mobilities at the ‘Frontiers and Borders of Superdiversity’ conference at the University of Birmingham. Both were fascinating events, with Les Back, Paul Gilroy, Gurminder Bhambra and Nira Yuval-Davis among the keynote speakers. She was also an invited panelist at the brilliant event ‘Brexit Britain and the Arts’ organized by Artistic Directors of the Future and held at the National Theatre, which included panel discussions, film screenings, installation art and live performances inspired by or responding to Brexit.
