Andy and Jenny contribute to the newly launched UNESCO Global Report on Culture for Sustainable Urban Development

The Global Report, “Culture: Urban Future” explores the role of culture for sustainable urban development. UNESCO officially launched it in Quito as a core contribution of the Organization to the Habitat III Conference on Habitat and Sustainable Urban Development, which gathers Heads of State, Ministers, Mayors from all around the world, actors of the international community, academic world and civil society to adopt a New Urban Agenda for the coming decades.

Two CCCI staff member, Andy and Jenny have been invited to contribute to the Report with ‘perspectives’, such as ‘Culture as a resource for sustaining urban life and livelihoods (Jenny) and ‘Coproducing culture and the urban environment’ (Andy). As a member of Arterial Network Cultural Policy Task Group, Jenny also acted as regional editor for the Study Area 1 (Sub-Saharan Africa).

The ground-breaking Report presents a series of analyses and recommendations for fostering the role of culture for sustainable development, and is intended as a policy framework document to support governments in the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Urban Development and the New Urban Agenda.
