Janet gives a keynote on Creative Greece Conference in Athens
On March 2, Janet delivered a keynote at the Creative Greece conference in Athens which was organised by the Department of Economic and Regional Development at Panteion University in Athens. The conference brought together PhDs and scholars from Greece working in the field of cultural studies, economics, geography and sociology as well as representatives from the Ministry of Culture, the European Commission’s Culture Department and artists. Her keynote focused on the role of artists in contemporary urban cultural policy-making processes and how new forms of political organisation and representation for artists challenge hegemonic notions of culture and arts within urban cultural policy frameworks and, subsequently, dominant notions of the Creative City.
