Ateliers de la Pensées #2 – Pan-African Festival of Ideas

The second edition of the Pan-African festival of Ideas, Les Ateliers de la Pensée (ADLP), co-organised by Profs Felwine Sarr and Achille Mbembe, took place in Dakar (Senegal) from November 1st to 4th. This edition, dedicated to an exploration of the ‘Planetary Condition and Politics of the Living’, welcomed over 50 participants, thinkers, scholars and artists from the continent and its diaspora.

Jenny was invited to contribute with a reflective piece entitled ‘Cultivating African Cities: On the decolonial potential of creative transformers’ in the framework of the panel ‘Decoloniality and Circulation of Knowledge’ taking place at the CODESRIA (Council for the Development of Social Science Research in Africa) along with Prof. Ebrima Sall, Dr. Olivia Rutazbwa, Dr Divine Fuh, Prof. Sabelo Ndlovu and Dr. Williams Nwagwu.

The panel discussions were restituted during a Nuit de la Pensée (A Night of Thought), a public debate with a live audience. Jenny was also invited to participate in a workshop with young students organised at the Museum Théodore Monod, and focusing on ‘Contemporary Artistic Expressions’, alongwith fellows thinkers, curators, writers, photographers, and filmmakers such as Carole Karamera, Marie-Ann Yemsi, Francoise Vergès, Lionel Manga, Leonard Pongo, Jean-Pierre Bekolo, Sami Tchak, Abdourahman Waberi, and Jean-Luc Raharimanana.
