Ros and Jo talk Media, Gender, Feminism @LSE
Ros Gill and Jo Littler from CCCI both spoke at the ‘Media, Gender, Feminism’ event at the LSE last week. Organised in collaboration with Northwestern University in the US, the two day event hosted a wide range of feminist scholars over two days speaking on issues including period politics and female fascism in India. Jo Littler opened the second day with a paper on ‘Mothers behaving badly: Chaotic hedonism and the crisis of social reproduction’, based on her article forthcoming in Cultural Studies, and Ros Gill gave the final keynote ‘Love Your Body but Hate It Too: Femvertising and
Its Limits’, discussing the commodification of vulnerability and empowerment, partially based on her forthcoming book with Shani Orgad.
