UNESCO/Sida Expert Facility for the 2005 Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions
Dr Jenny Mbaye was recently selected to be part of the UNESCO Expert Facility (2015-2017), which aims at supporting capacity development initiatives for the implementation of the 2005 Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions.
She thus participated in an exchange meeting, which took place from May 17th to 20th in Casablanca (Morocco), and which gathered the 43 international experts selected to renew and diversify the Facility established in 2011 in the context of a European Union funded project aimed at “Strengthening the System of Governance for Culture in Developing Countries”, both in terms of expertise and geographical representation.
The renewed Expert Facility is established for the 2015-2017 period, with the support of the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida). The activities foreseen during this period aim at raising awareness of the Convention, monitoring policies and measures to promote the diversity of cultural expressions at the international level and providing support to Parties in their efforts to engage in evidence based, transparent and participatory policy making at the country level.
