Jenny speaks about Arterial Network’s African Creative Cities to ThisIsAfrica
Along with the leading members of Arterial Network’s African Creative Cities (AACC) pilot programme, Jenny was interviewed for an article published by the online media ThisIsAfrica to reflect on the initial stages of the programme.
As the scientific adviser of the programme, Jenny has accompanied throughout the continent the five participating cities – Harare, Mahé-Victoria, Nouakchott, Pointe-Noire and Ségou – for the launch of this unique pan-African initiative aiming at developing urban cultural policies, while relying on the dynamism and experience of local cultural organisations from the civil society.
After successful cultural exchanges and artistic bridges fostered between the five cities (through music and theatre performances, pan-African exhibition as well as collaborative projects), the two-year pilot programme (2017-2018) is now entering its second phase, focusing on capacity-building, governance and networking to promotethe distinctive cultural identities of each participating city.
