Sona Mehta is an experienced senior lecturer at The City Law School, City, University of London who has been teaching on the Legal Practice Course since 2006. She has developed, co-ordinated and assessed modules on the skills of legal research, writing, drafting, interviewing and advocacy on the LPC and its successor course, the Solicitors’ Practice Programme. She has a particular interest in privacy and data protection and is a Certified Information Privacy Professional (Europe) and Privacy Manager. Prior to teaching, Sona was a Staff Attorney at Blockbuster Entertainment Ltd where she was one of three in-house lawyers advising on general operational and commercial matters, having qualified and practised as a solicitor at Bird & Bird. She is passionate about developing opportunities for students and driving the EDI agenda and runs a mentoring programme at City Law School providing students with access to support and guidance from legal practitioners, and is co-chair of the staff affinity group for people identifying as women.
