My name is Teo Ssemakula and I work as the lead Senior Practice Development Nurse within the Operating Department Theatre in an NHS Trust in London. In my role I manage a team of 3 and we oversee approximately 300 staff. This include Registered Nurses, Operating Department Practitioners, Nursing Associates, HealthCare Support Workers plus offer placements and look after students from Nursing, Midwifery and Allied Health Professionals namely, Operating Department Practitioners and Paramedics.
Our newest group of students are T-Levels.
I am currently doing my MA Academic Practice which I have enjoyed and gained valuable insights in several modules namely; Teaching, Learning and Assessment; Student Support and Personal Tutoring; Curriculum Development and Evaluation; Leadership and Reflective Practice; Researching Higher Education and now on course with my last module, Educational Research Project and Publication.
Knowledge gained from these modules not only added confidence in the way I work, but has also helped me to share my knowledge whilst still learning new ideas and practicalities such as writing an abstract.
