CityLibrary has added two exciting new performing arts related resources to our collection: Theatre and Drama Premium and Dance Online: Dance in Video.
Theatre and Drama Premium
Theatre and Drama Premium has an array of information relating to theatre and drama performance across multiple countries and mediums.
This collection offers visual and written information including sketches, diagrams, scripts, playbills, reviews, performances, photographs and other documents from institutions such as the National Theatre Collection, Stratford Theatre Works, Oberon Books and LA Theatre Workshop.
It’s designed for students and scholars of performing arts and covers a wide period of theatrical history. The website is broken down into different collections, and with an easy to use search engine, finding the relevant resources is made easier.
Dance Online: Dance in Video
Dance Online: Dance in Video features performances and documentaries from institutions and practitioners such as the Royal Ballet, Merce Cunningham, Alvin Ailey, American Dance Festival and many other influential voices in dance history worldwide.
The wide global and time periods explored in the resource shows how multinational and individual performance is, and how technique and style change and evolved over time due to the nature of outside influences and modernisation within that specific style or country.
Highlights include an array of rare and hard-to-find archival material, full length ballets from the most respected companies world-wide, and interviews and documentaries featuring Trey McIntyre, Margot Fonteyn, Mikhail Baryshnikov, Darcy Bussell, Yvonne Meier, Saburo Teshigawara, and other key performers and choreographers.
Dance in Video also has clip-making tools, personalised playlists, transcription and video annotations, helping you streamline your research time.
