AG24 (rooms A and B) are new learning spaces created at City University London as part of the Learning Spaces project. The two rooms have been designed as flexible learning spaces that enable education with computers or laptops or students’ own devices. As part of our ‘post-occupancy’ evaluation of the space, on Wednesday 5th December, the Learning Development Centre (LDC) held an Open House Forum in the space to invite feedback from users of the space. In particular we were interested to find out:
- Do the spaces work for you?
- How could the spaces be improved?
- Do you want to know more about using the spaces and equipment?
We would like to thank all the staff that took the time to participate in this event. 17 staff joined us and shared their experience of using these flexible spaces. We scrawled on the squiggle glass, ‘shimmied’ on the node chairs, explored the laptop lockers, displayed results of a student survey on the pod and enjoyed a City University lunch in AG24B. Staff were on the whole positive about the space and equipment and made a number of recommendations of how to improve the spaces. We also heard about staff needs for future spaces. This information will be fed back to Learning Spaces Group and used by Properties and Facilities to inform further room refurbishments.
Julie Attenborough has also collected data from students to gain an understanding of how they find the new space. We projected some highlighted results of this survey so that staff can engage with the student opinion. Here are the slides that we projected.
