Each year the Learning Development Centre (LDC) produce a video to introduce students to the key features of the Online Learning Environment – Moodle. Staff from the LDC were joined by Dr Julie MacLaren, Senior Lecturer Education Development in the School of Health Sciences to film the video for the upcoming academic year.
The video is normally filmed in the MILL TV studio, but with building works going on in the floor above the studio we filmed this year’s video in the MILL at Goswell Place.
Equipment used
We used the following equipment to film the video:
- Panasonic HD camera
- Tripod
- Lapel microphone
- PromptWare Plus iPad app for the autocue system and the steady hands of Stef to hold the iPad during filming.
We’ll be adding some screencasts to the video to provide step-by-step instructions for students on how to access and navigate Moodle. Once completed, the induction video can be used to support student inductions and will be accessible from the Moodle login page and the Student Guidance website.
Borrowing video-making equipment
For City University London staff interested in borrowing video-making equipment, refer to the MILL equipment list. It is advisable to submit your request for equipment loans at least a week in advance.
