Learning at City Conference 2013

Wednesday 4th June 2014 | 9am – 6pm

We are pleased to open the Call for Abstracts for the 6th Annual Learning at City Conference, to all City University Staff.

Following the success of previous conferences, we will also be inviting colleagues from other HE’s to contribute this year and will be opening the call for abstracts externally in March.

The conference will also be taking place off-campus for the first time, at The Hatton.

Theme

The theme for the conference is Students as Partners in Learning? We would like you to share your practice, innovation and research in this area. We anticipate that this topical theme will provide excellent opportunities for discussion and debate during the conference. Proposals for papers and posters are invited which relate to the overall theme.

We will particularly welcome any proposals that include students presenting with you.

Format

Papers (These will be for 30 minutes with two in a room for each session): If you are providing a paper you should plan to share your paper for no more than 20 minutes and then have 10 minutes for questions. You should have some questions prepared for discussion in case participants do not ask any.

Workshops (these sessions are for 60 minutes): If you are providing a workshop then try to keep your overview to 20 minutes and then have around 30 minutes as activity including feedback and sharing and, permit 10 minutes for questions at the end.

Posters (the maximum size should be A1): Posters will be available for participants to view throughout the conference. However there will be a chance to discuss your posters with colleagues during the drinks reception at the end of the day which will focus on these posters. After the conference we will place photographs of posters on the University website.

The call is currently open to City University staff only and will be expanded to include external contributors from Monday 3rd March 2014.
