Write a history of the End of the Oil Age, set in the 21st Century.
In the early 21st century, the world began to wake up to the reality of peak oil. For years, the oil industry had been drilling ever-deeper wells and using ever-more-complex technologies to extract ever-more-difficult-to-reach oil, but it was becoming clear that the days of easy oil were over. As oil supplies began to dwindle, prices rose, and the world began to look for alternatives.
renewable energy sources like solar and wind power began to be developed on a large scale, and electric cars and other alternative-fuel vehicles became more common. At the same time, people began to change their lifestyles, conserving energy and living more simply.
It was a difficult transition, but slowly the world began to adapt. And as the oil age came to an end, a new age of sustainability dawned.
