We’ve got a series of posts to help you prepare for the new academic year on Moodle. This is our eighth post and will cover how staff enrolled as Programme Administrators can manage notifications and emails from Moodle modules.
Course Office staff with Programme Administrator role access to Moodle categories are directly enrolled to modules. This can lead to hundreds of notifications and emails regarding each Moodle module. You can easily reduce the number of emails and notifications you receive by following these three steps to disable Moodle notifications and set up two email rules.
- Switch off Moodle notifications that are not locked to reduce the emails from Moodle modules you are directly enrolled on.
- Set Forum digest to subjects Subjects (daily email with subjects only) to limit emails from Moodle forums to one a day.
- Set up two email rules. The first rule will manage Forum digests and assignment notifications which are not controlled from Notification preferences. The second rule will manage emails generated from Quickmail (Email within in Moodle modules).
If you previously set up an e-mail rule to manage your emails for the year 2023-24, remember you’ll need to update it to include to include emails from 2024-25 modules. Don’t delete your rule for 2023-24 as you may still receive emails from those modules.
The guide to Notifications provides full details of how to enable these settings and how to set up or update your email rules.
Our guidance site has been updated and includes up-to-date information and how to guides. To see details of the full range of upcoming workshops and to book, please see the LEaD training calendar.
Our next post will focus on how to personalise your dashboard and adjust the view of module lists.
