The Digital Education Team are launching a new educational technology guidance site on August 31st. The site will provide detailed guidance on all of City’s educational technologies for both staff and students.
The new platform has a number of advantages over our previous guidance site.
Look and feel
The site has a fresh look which matches the City brand and has been created with accessibility in mind. The student guidance, in particular, has been designed to display well on mobile devices. The team has taken the opportunity to develop a consistent style for all the guides and to remove duplicated and outdated guidance.
The guidance is organised into related subjects so you can browse by a technology, e.g. Lecture Capture, or by a topic such as Digital Accessibility.
Where there is detailed and extensive guidance for one subject e.g. for Moodle, the pages have been grouped into related topics – Assessment, Communication and collaboration, Design and manage modules, Manage users and groups and Staff introduction. Within each subject page and each individual guide, there is a search function to pinpoint the help you need.
Added features
The site features an A-Z database of helpful screencasts and workshop recordings. And there is a built-in calendar, showing upcoming LEaD events and Digital Education Team workshops and support sessions.
Important dates
The site officially launches on August 31st. You can preview it before then but please be aware that a few pages are still being finalised.
Our previous guidance site will still be available until at least February 5th 2022 but will no longer be updated and supported. We have added a message redirecting users to the new site on the old pages. Please check your modules or webpages for any links to the old site and replace them with links to the new site.
