Following this year’s Learning at City conference, a few members of LEaD have set up a writing group. The idea is to provide a supportive community and environment for City academics and Professional Services staff to find some time to write, pick up new tips or techniques, or to gain support in writing for the Learning at City blog.
This blog is designed for staff to share innovations and good practice from across the learning spectrum. As writing for the web tends to require a differnet approach and tone from writing reports or academic papers, the group is provided as a ‘social companion’ for both those new or unfamiliar with blogging and those that need an excuse to put some time aside to sit down and write. You can use the writing time for whatever you want to write though – it doesn’t just have to be blog posts!
We meet on the first Wednesday and Thursday of every month, in B310 – the new LEaD Training Room below the Northampton Suite – between 13:00 – 14:00. The group will be meeting on the following dates during the upcoming term (subject to change):
- Oct 5th and 6th
- Nov 2nd and 3rd
- Dec 7th and 8th
We’ve had several Writing Group meetings already over the summer, which has already spurred some staff into either finishing something off or getting started with blogging. If you’re interested in coming along to one of the next ones, drop us an email to LEaDinfo@city.ac.uk, let us know in the comments below, or tweet us at @CityUniLEaD. And if you come along and write something, tag it with ‘Writing Group‘ to connect it with others’ writings from this group.
See you there!
